Actually I have read the opposite. As Maharishi has it the both processes are essential the sihis and the meditation. There is a guy by the name of Hislop he was with Maharishi in the beginning and moved to Sai baba. He liked TM but found that the meditation was not enough that is would not lead to enlightenment. Instead he began practicing another form of meditation which is like hollow and empty meditation directing the attentiona and holding in different parts go the body for periods of time, as if doing Dhayana Dharara and Sungyuma....
