He said that because he had new meditators who were beginning to notice
the difference and didn't want it to go to their heads. That's part of
the job of a guru is to keep the student from thinking "I am something"
otherwise growth will stop. However it's 30 some years later and I
would hope that folks got some evolution in over the years. Do note I
mentioned why some people are more evolved without meditating in the post.
