Beymer was extraordinary in "Twin Peaks."  Hard to
believe after his pathetically callow performance
in "West Side Story."

Never read the book...  I really loathed the movie. 
Somehow it managed to expose Meryl Streep's artifice.
I've never enjoyed a performance of hers since.
Eastwood was OK but seemed out of his depth.  I don't
think romantic is his thing; he's too edgy.

And his direction just had no continuity, or maybe
it was terrible editing, but the director should
have control over the editing.
