Beymer was extraordinary in "Twin Peaks." Hard to believe after his pathetically callow performance in "West Side Story." > > In any case, when a TMer does > > something neat, I'm pleased, but an artist just being > > a TMer isn't enough to *make* something neat, as far > > as I'm concerned. Never read the book... I really loathed the movie. Somehow it managed to expose Meryl Streep's artifice. I've never enjoyed a performance of hers since. Eastwood was OK but seemed out of his depth. I don't think romantic is his thing; he's too edgy. And his direction just had no continuity, or maybe it was terrible editing, but the director should have control over the editing.
