And, as far as we can tell, the destination of most of the funds that anyone contributes to the TMO. > > http://groups.yahoo.com/group/FairfieldLife/message/142392 > > > > "What you are describing appears to me to be > > the *ultimate* in suggestibility." > > Too small, no context. *I* don't even remember the context. :-) > > http://groups.yahoo.com/group/FairfieldLife/message/142392 > > > > "You should include more quotes from English > > homosexuals channeling "the Master" and > > occasionally sing a few tunes from the Space > > Brothers." > > Off topic. Willytex's entire post was off topic, since my request was for Rory. Come to think of it, Willytex himself is pretty much off topic. But it's nice of him to contribute, if he feels the need to do so. That doesn't mean that I have to take him any more seriously than I ever do. Rory, on the other hand, is often lucid, and I'm interested in the quotes that *he* finds "angry," etc. > > "You might also consider fawning over Maharishi > > a lot more." > > No context given. This one I remember. That was a comment to Curtis, suggesting what he'd have to do to "up his approval rating" from Nablus. :-) > > http://groups.yahoo.com/group/FairfieldLife/message/142332 > > > > "My *opinion* on what Maharishi said is that he > > is an individual to be pitied, just as one would > > have pitied Howard Hughes towards the end of his > > life." > > A humorous comment on Mahesh's "lifestyle". Not to mention the God's honest truth. I find his recent quote about being afraid to leave his SV house inspiring of pity and compassion, not anger. It's fairly shocking, as the result of these beliefs; he *hasn't* left his house in...what...over a decade? > > http://groups.yahoo.com/group/FairfieldLife/message/142318 > > > > Curtis: > > > > "This kind of spiritual oneupmanship certainly > > isn't restricted to MMY's tiny group. I agree. The subject is spiritual oneupsmanship ("My technique/god/teacher/scripture is better/more accurate than yours.") No anger there, just a valid criticism of a certain mindstate. > > http://groups.yahoo.com/group/FairfieldLife/message/142158 > > > > "He set them up with sweet jobs, that is > > definitely relating to them, in fact showing > > them favoritism. Very funny. > No anger or derision that I see, but these guys definitely have a > sense of humor! And IMO *that* is what many people are finding "angry." We can LAUGH at Maharishi, and at OURSELVES for all the silly things we did while we were following him. I mean, lighten UP, people. What we did *was* silly. How many Class-A tourist towns have you been to in your TM "career," and never seen any of? Instead (like me, and Curtis, and most of the people here), you saw the inside of a hotel room, rarely (if ever) even ventur- ing into town. Can anyone who was in Cala Millor tell me where the best place to get Mallorcan food was? Can anyone who was in Fiuggi tell me what the museums there looked like? How many of those who were in St. Moritz ever went into town? Silly. Not to *mention* some of the other even sillier things that long-term TMers take for granted. Rooms full of guys wearing the same suit, because that's now the proper "uniform." Those same rooms full of Western women wearing saris, badly. Giving an intro lecture at a local public library saying definitively that TM was not religious in nature and then going back to the local TM center to catch the Diwali ceremony and light candles to Hindu gods. The list goes on and on. We led a SILLY lifestyle -- as viewed by 99.99% of the world's population -- for many years. Some still do. I think it's FINE if people *like* that lifestyle, and choose to live it. But when someone mentions how silly some aspect of the lifestyle are, or laughs at them, and the livers of that lifestyle act as offended as if someone had referred to them using the "N" word, well I for one think that someone is a bit humor- impaired, not to mention taking themselves much too seriously. When I laugh at some of the things I did in the past, I'm laughing at MYSELF, for being so silly *as* to take these things seriously. It's a very liberating feeling. You might try it sometime.
