Actually slaves in Britain had won court cases for freedom before
America existed. British law was based on old laws about serfdom that
was outlawed in Britain in the 1400's. You need to get a more detailed
look at how history actually is. Slavery was illegal in Britain since
the 1400's (wether that law was broken or not is a different matter),
and it was even stricter in Scotland. Hence , before the slave -owners
in America had their revolution, court cases in Britain had set slaves
free based on this old law. Therefore slavery was illegal in Britain
before the America even existed.
