Thing I can't understand is how do you get on CD promo list
to receive such goodies anyhow??? Whats the secret?

As regards the current flurry on copies, I guess it depends on a persons own
perception of correct integrity. I certainly would record and pass ANY music
to people I know personally and would also receive such material without
remorse.

I invariably find this is a good way to discover new things and consequently
go along and BUY whatever is available by that artist. For instance, my
collection of CD's has everything from SAGA (Canadian), these are not
generally available in the UK and if not sourced via amazon.co.uk as imports
have been purchased in Denmark and Germany during my travels - this all
happened when a friend gave me a taped copy of a CD.

I would also be so bold as to say that if an item of music is withdrawn
after a promotional or test release only or if it goes out of print quickly,
then it makes some sort of sense that it is available in the public domain.
If it is no longer going to be available commercially then it can only do
good for everyone concerned. The 'carry on' with the last Faithless single
is perhaps a good example, couldn't get a copy anywhere!

Different matter with new material not yet available, I would be really
pissed if someone made our products available as downloads (books) before we
had a good crack at the marketplace, but would be really happy if someone
copied the text for download after the book went out of print.
