and this is a great idea, I sat down today and sent out over 60 emails to authors. I also figured out that I could put my text in a sig in OE so all I have to do is hit reply to a story post, paste in the author's email address, snip everything but the title, author and archive line and then click on the sig to paste my request to archive into the email! So it went really fast. And I got back about a dozen replies, even tho I'd said they didn't have to reply unless they didn't want the story archived, most of them gave me blanket permission to archive anything, a couple are sending me text files, several pointed me to revised versions on their websites and I had some nice conversations about their fic and the show with a couple more. So all in all, a very good idea, worked out nicely, I got some bounces, mostly hotmail and yahoo "mailbox full", so I set those aside to try again in a week and I have about 40 or so left that didn't reply so I'll wait till next Sunday, then archive their story and send off the url which I can do using the Posting Notice from the archive, just forward it and paste in the author's email which is in the notice already and it has the url of the story, too. Cool! new fic, new authors, even some new stories from old authors! And Tamy, some of it is Scully slash and I got permission to archive there as well as at the Basement so we'll have some new stories at ScullySlash soon!
