Matthew,

Verity is capable of indexing pdfs and has been for as long as I remember.
Livedocs only show up to CF5 docs, but I'm reasonably certain that I was
indexing pdfs with CF4 - CF3 is a hazy distant past.

>From the CF5 docs :

When indexing collections containing documents in Adobe Acrobat (PDF)
format, Verity scans for the document title (if one has been entered in
Acrobat Exchange) in addition to the document text and displays the title in
the search results list.

You are correct that Verity is a cut down version, but its only really the
number of records/documents and the number of collections that is the
restriction. (and the fact that verity is a resource hog if you aren't
careful)

Regards

Stephen
