On a related note, this was our thinking at the time we decided to move to dual license GPL/Commercial: http://blog.daemon.com.au/go/blog-post/farcry-license-change-discussion-paper Those thoughts hold true today, and hopefully they give some insight into the decision and its potential ramifications for folks in the community. I might add that many open source solutions like FarCry are GPL; for example, mySQL, Drupal, Mambo, Joomla, Linux, etc. Not that many GPL communities offer the option of a Commercial license -- Daemon is the sole owner of the copyright on the underlying code base and is therefore able to make a commercial license available. What revenue there is from commercial license sales goes into the infrastructure, maintenance and development of the FarCry code base -- every little bit helps. -- geoff http://www.daemon.com.au/ -- You received this message cos you are subscribed to "farcry-dev" Google group.
