That doc is pretty close. A couple of things I found on RedHat9:

It is easier to install into /var/www/html/farcry/<application(s)>
I tried to make it work with the applications in user directories under /home without
any success.
Farcry seems to rely on the <application> directory being at the same level as fourq
and farcry_core

I also tried using a sym link for /farcry instead of aliases in the apache config. It didn't work, you need an alias in the apache virtual site directive.

Watch the directory permissions. CF runs under nobody.nobody and apache runs under
apache.apache
I'm still not sure of the best way to sort out user permissions. I think I ended up
setting
everything to 777 and apache.apache while I was installing and put nobody in the
apache group.

There doesn't seem to be a clear Linux install document floating about anywhere, and I'm certain the install will differ fairly markedly from the bog-standard Windows piece on the FarCry site. If someone can point me in the right direction, I'm happy to author the whole bloody thing.

The install shouldn't be any different. You need to extract the files, create a datasource, set up your webserver mappings and run the install. You obviously wouldn't be using IIS as your webserver so maybe this technote from Kai Knig on installing with Apache may help:
