              Hi Brendan,

              It is version 9i R2.0.1 of Oracle and yes I have those
permissions as when I look at the database when the thing dies I can
see about 5 or so tables already created and there are also a number
of temporary tables in the schema.

What version of Oracle? Was the db empty before attempting an
install? 
Do you have permission to create tables and temp tables?
