Well, arguably, some of this can have to do with coding style as well as server environment. Some of the sites we have built are pretty slow at times. In other cases we have sites that are pretty quick.

FarCry is not slow. It is architected very smart and uses code quite efficiently.

The thing that will slow down FarCry or any CFMX app are encapsulating everything in cfoutputs causing extra processing or white space, a server that is jammed up with way too many sites running crappy code, and/or a MX server not configured to cache the generated java files - thus causing a ton of processing time. From our experience all of our FC sites run quite well, once however they end up on a host server (especially one not chosen by us),the site could run into trouble.

Sluggishness on some of the sites has concerned us as well. In general we have found sites in a dedicated environment running FC run very well. Just the same, premium shared hosts (limited sites) run well. Some of the sites I listed are on vanilla CF accounts and they can be cludgy at times.

In general, going the CF route, you will find no better CMS than FarCry. Keep the code clean and efficient when you build, and choose a good host and you will be rewarded!

What are your typical render times on pages? I've never used any CMS
so I don't know if it's normal that they don't seem to render quite as
fast as other pages.
