Geoff,
The copy/paste option isn't present in the version I'm running (F211).
Before I upgrade to the latest build, I'd like to understand a few things:
- Can I copy the whole "home" branch? Where would I paste it, so that it
doesn't interfere with the running version of the site?
- How will I display the "parallel" structure in the new temp version of the
site, as it will not be under "home"?
- Most of the display templates (+ css, js and images) will have to be
modified for this redesign, so I guess it would mean duplicating the
existing ones and then going to every page of the copied tree structure to
give it a new display template... but this is a *huge* tree, with hundreds
of nodes! Is this really the best way to proceed?
To summarize, I wonder if it wouldn't be easier/cleaner to duplicate the
whole site into another FC site & database, along with all the dmHtml code,
and then modify these until the new site is ready, then somehow switch
prod/dev versions...
Does that seem like a reasonable way to go?
Does anyone has experience doing this (I guess many CF-Dev members do)?
I tried something similar in the past and encountered quite a lot of mix-up
issues with caching, verity collections, etc... obviously, I didn't do it
right ;~(
Thanks a bunch for your help!
Nicolas.
