I would definitely agree that the error had to do with QofQ in CF7. In both instances the error messages I received were in QofQ calls. I'd downloaded the .zip file (for Windows) off the FarCry site when I did this installation.
What's interesting is that I download the .tar.gz for *nix off the site and did an install today on CFMX7 / RedHat AS3 and didn't get those error messages... everything looked nice and smooth. I'm assuming that if there were CVS fixes that they weren't included. Odd. As an aside, I found an issue in the admin tool with a reference to session.cfid that will fail if the user has J2EE sessions enabled. I e-mailed [EMAIL PROTECTED] detailing the issue.
