When you created the second project if you decided to copy any files from the previous project, please consider the following.
In your project folder make sure that the application name (found in Application.cfm) is unique for each application (or you'll end up sharing info between sites).
Also edit <project>/config/_serverSpecificVars.cfm and make sure application.dsn is pointing to your new datasource name.
