Sounds like someone's confused free culture with non-commercial. Or perhaps the 'movement' has realised that 'free as in unfettered' is simply too much of a paradigm shift for the layman to digest, i.e. that an interim phase of 'uncharged, promotional, and non-commercially competitive culture' has a better chance of being adopted both by wide audiences quite happy to get something for nothing, and commercial publishers who are reassured that there's no threat to their traditional business models.
We couldn't let any artist's actually make any money by remixing copyleft works now could we? There may well be a place for iCommons (untainted by filthy lucre). However there is also a place for free culture and artists being permitted to earn a living producing it. Stick with it guys. _______________________________________________ fc-uk-discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.okfn.org/mailman/listinfo/fc-uk-discuss
