Just some side notes, the DOS version of PDCurses does not support a clipboard (though there is a tiny patch that allows the same app to cut and paste, I think anyway) and if I am recalling correctly it does not have an implementation for the mouse routines [could be wrong here and/or could have since been added). PDCurses is cross platform which is nice, though I am not sure how similar (or different) it is to ncurses. Though I haven't tried, ncurses FAQ reports someone managed to use it with DJGPP (so I'm assuming a DOS port is possible if not directly available).
