NT XCOPY supports /D switch like XCOPY C:\ Z:\ /S /D
will copy everything from C: to network drive, but skip files with
same date, which makes it *much* faster, and is trivial to implement
At least I would want that ;-)If that's what Alain wants, you're right. Seems like I should start coding on XCOPY again. :-)
Hi, below is the full and unabbreviated Win2K XCOPY help.
Thanks.
switches *I* find useful, and often use (no idea if you already implemented them)Switches /H, /R and /Y are already implemented and /D and /L should be no problem. Switch /C is tricky I think, because I have to test what MS XCOPY does in the possible situations. E.g. what happens when the destination directory has no more disk space?
/D - copy only newer files
/L - don't copy, only show what would happen, if...
/C - continue in case of errors - useful, should files be in use
(sharing conflicts,...)
/H, /R - copies readonly and system files, too.
/Y Suppresses prompting to confirm you want to overwrite
