On the Stats side of things, its not about pass rates, but it may
interest you re approaches to these exams. When the GCD lectures are
viewed online, the amount of viewings etc is all fed back into a
database, and it allows extrapolation of some interesting graphs. I'm
not sure how to attach one here, but the main viewing times are
incredibly interesting. On one typical day in the last 4 weeks of the
course (i.e. when interest is at its peak) the graph for viewings
throughout the day indicates a massive peak during lunch time and just
thereafter. I think on this day, there were c.850-900 viewings in
total, with a graph rising like a slow peaking triangle with 50% of
viewings at 1-3pm with the other 50% spread throughout the day. It
might suggest a large contingent trying to work the exams around free-
time or down-time in existing jobs which I, assume, has a knock on
effect on the study time in the run up to the exams (i.e. no time off
etc) which in turn probably affects pass / fail rates. It certainly
shows that even though most of the courses are run at night or from
6pm onwards, once we offered the online, you saw that people would
much rather work during the day!
