Hi,

I am installing fedora with a group of library students.
We are using Debian 5.0, and the instruction of Christian
  at

http://www.fedora-commons.org/confluence/display/FCR30/Installation+and+Configuration+Guide

The two most advanced students get to the point
of an error in startup, logged in /var/log/daemon.log

The FEDORA_HOME directory, /opt/fedora is not writable by the current user,
tomcat55

  Indeed

server:/var/log# ls -ld /opt/fedora3/
drwxr-xr-x 6 root root 4096 2009-08-26 15:08 /opt/fedora3/

server:/var/log# ls -l /opt/fedora3/
total 16
drwxr-xr-x 5 root root 4096 2009-08-26 15:08 client
drwxr-xr-x 5 root root 4096 2009-08-26 15:08 docs
drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 4096 2009-08-26 15:08 install
drwxr-xr-x 9 root root 4096 2009-08-26 15:08 server

How do the permissions need to be set?

  Cheers,

  Thomas Krichel http://openlib.org/home/krichel
