hi all We are integrating our existing collection management system MAVIS with Fedora. The existing system uses Oracle RBMS but our databases are not UTF-8. The installation documentation indicates that this is a requirement. We have gone ahead with the installation using the non-UTF8 database as a test, and it all seems fine. We anticipate a mix of Managed Content and External Content.
Is the requirement for a UTF-8 database absolutely neccessary? Would someone be able to explain why this is? We would rather not install another Oracle instance if we can avoid it. thanks very much Fiona MAVIS Project Technical Director ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Free Software Download: Index, Search & Analyze Logs and other IT data in Real-Time with Splunk.
