Yes, that is where DC is stored (although it is now possible to have DC as a
managed datastream instead).

However the DC field values are also pushed to the SQL database for the
basic objects search functionality - hence why multibyte UTF-8 characters
are likely to cause an exception if the database isn't configured to be
UTF-8.
