Perhaps something like this would work?

yum --enablerepo updates-testing groupupdate 'KDE (K Desktop Environment)'

That wouldn't be quite as limited as the command you had, but it's
sure a lot less to type. :)

(I can't test this properly, since I don't have kde installed.)
