It's a matter of taste, like how hot you like your salsa or Szechuan or curry.  
I have a friend who likes it so hot it'll make strong men weep, while I love 
the complex spice, but not the hotness.

I can't abide the big peaty monsters, the ones that make your eyes bleed.  It's 
why I like Gldenfiddich, because it's subtle and complex, with a tart tangy 
finish. A cigar with any scotch is OK, but I'd rather have the cigar be the 
heavier, darker, more bitter element. <g>
