Yet even here it's not exactly universal. Still, I think as a nation we have a guilty conscience over how we treated Vietnam vets, so at the very least we give good lip service to doing better this time. Now when it comes to actually taking care of veterans with health care and appropriate benefits, there are those who argue we haven't actually improved much -- but we at least talk a dramatically better talk, whether or not we walk a better walk.
