I have to say that I don't think much of Rowling's writing. I love
her stories. Her nomenclatures are clever, but the actual word to word
writing lacks much to be desired. So much in fact, that I couldn't
actually read the books. I let Mr Stephen Fry do it for me.

The movies weren't too bad, up until Half-Blood Prince, which was the
only book I actually liked, and they ruined it in the film version
(http://www.fantasy-magazine.com/reviews/harry-potter-and-the-half-blood-prince/
tells why I think so). To sum up my review, I hate that the darkest,
most adult of all the books became a teen rom-com on film.

I only listened to the audiobooks in an effort to dissect the
phenomenon. I failed. I still don't get why nearly everyone loves a
series of books wherein the main character is entirely reactive and
every paragraph begins with the words "he said."

I will say that Rowling creating a world interesting enough to hook an
entire generation of kids on reading, and she deserves all the kudos
on earth for that feat given the popularity of video games, instant
media and the internet.

My pair o' pennies.
