Welcome to the world of overediting. I must have cut the line earlier where he figured out how to do the rift thing. There was a lot of stuff that I juggled trying to demonstrate they were slowly learning their human counterpart's stuff, climaxed at the scene when Nakor tells Miranda to stop trying and just do it.
