I assume, all that you need are the javax.microedition classes ? Maybe it is an option to use one of the (few) free implementations like for example from http://sourceforge.net/projects/microemulator/ which is under LGPL.

The download of the CLDC (the basis of all J2ME) refers to the Sun Community Source License (SCSL), which has been ruled as incompatible with ASF. IIRC, the SCSL doesn't make a distinction between binary usages and source usages, so this might be a problem. I am posting a on legal-discuss for clarification. Cheers Niclas
