It's very chicken-and-egg. The system bug-rate is largely due to
fast rate of change plus low number of active developers.

The project is WAY too big for one person to handle, even if I
got paid and even if I had a lab with all the different platforms
set up as a compile/build/install/test bot I simply don't have the
expertise in all the required areas.

I have to at least rely on people doing regular builds and reporting
any problems. I often run into problems myself, but I work around them
because I'm focused on something else, then forget them.

For Felix language, we need a better way to contribute bug reports
in the form of bugged out code: at present you have to edit

        lpsrc/flx_regress.pak

and doing that is quite daunting, even for me. The way to do that
is probably sandbox/bugs/* or something, then regularly move
all the contributed test cases into

        lpsrc/flx_regress_2007_july.pak

or something similar.

Still .. to solve the chicken-and-egg problem it's a snowball effect.
We simply don't have the resources to fix it. We have to hope someone
comes along that is inspired enough by the possibilities to take
on some aspect of the job. If enough people do that I might gain
enough confidence to accelerate the process by throwing money
at it .. particularly if we can pick up a commercial user.
