You might try this, I think it will work: (a) Create a directory in a file system with some space you can use (b) put a symbolic link to it named ".felix" in your $HOME directory
Felix will create $HOME/.felix if it doesn't exist. But it should never delete it because it can contain persistent data such as default config files. This is (well was at some stage) how your local locations for various libraries are (were) preserved across complete rebuilds from scratch (without you having to keep editing the defaults).
