Terrie, My son's 18 year old black/brown tabby Fu is living with me and is hyperthyroid. He was diagnosed about two and a half years ago. He gets a half tablet of tapazole everyday and fluids with potassium. He is very skinny as such kitties tend to be as their systems are working overtime. I have make sure his food bowl is always filled; that means he lives in his own room when I am not at home. He eats a lot but stays quite skinny. He was rather plump before. But he does act like a normal kitty. As you know, meezers can live a long time, so I hope Ling will be with you for several more years. Sometimes the condition is treated with surgery or radiation, which is supposed to cure it, I think. I remember some my friends hyperthyroid cats was ill and the dose of tapazole their cat was taking was terribly large and the vet proposed to increase it> This was alarming because it was quite different from what my vet said. There is supposed to be a Yahoo hyperthyroid group.
