I have not followed this thread so you may have heard this already, but Topozol, I think, it the medication.  There is a also a radio-therapy or surgery procedure that can be done on the thyroid glands. There is a place out here that specializes in it (MA), called Radiocat. There may be somewhere out there too. I know nothing about the procedure other than that a lot of people must do it if there is a group here that does only that.
