Count me in on that too!  Making the bed was one of Quintapus' favorite games, and he'd actually get disappointed if I did it on Sunday instead of Saturday!  As soon as he saw me take the sheets out of the dryer or the closet, he came running!  He didn't play too much in his later years, but that was still a game that would have him going like a kitten!

My terrrior / poodle mix started the game...only instead of bed mice, we called it hunting woozies.  The game came to a screetching halt, for her anyway, soon after Quintapus came....and joined in.  He had gotten under the covers, she was on top, and when Schatzi actually managed to finally catch that woozie....it turned out to have teeth and claws!  Since that incident...she would just sit on the floor and watch Quint and I play, and no amount of cajoling could get her to join again.  But she did have the last say...when Quintie decided the game was over each time, he'd jump off the bed and Schaz would case him through the house until they knocked something over!

Quintie began teaching Coebeio the game about two months before he died, so we still play it....just not with all the vim and viggor we once did.  I had had Coe for 4 yrs and she never showed any interest...its as if Quint was telling her...."ok, now she likes to play this silly game, so when I'm gone it'll fall to you.."  Then the first time I changed the sheets after he died...expecting not to play the game...Coe came trotting in just as I had put on the fitted sheets.  :-)

Oh yes, and the two chairs in the living room...they belong to the cats....as apparently does the chair in my studio (course only when I'm in it!  They jump up behind me and try to push me off)!

We may be nutjobs...but we do have innocent fun!

Kerry,
I think we're all nut jobs!  Have you ever asked them if they want to help make the bed?  Whenever I get  sheets out to make the bed, my guys come running.  They love it when I spread the sheet out over them and with each layer a new game of "bed mice" begins.  (Bed mice is when someone, or something, usually a foot, is moving under the covers inviting a pouncing attack).  My Jack Russel mix, Zelda, also loves Bed Mice.  Since she was a puppy she's loved to leap from opposing sides of the bed on the offending lump.  She even asks for a game by sitting on the uninhabited bed, staring intently at the smooth cover and doing her grumble-under-her-breath vocalization, then she'll look at me, then back at the covers.  She'll keep it up until I get on my hands and knees and stick my hand under the covers, and the game is on!

Yes. I don't vacuum when they're in the room in question (and never vacuum the carpet in the feral FELV room--that's always a hands and knees job). I don't change or make the bed if a cat is on it. And if each sofa is occupied by a reclining cat (there are 3 sofas in the living-room and 3 cats with access to that space) I...um...sit on the floor...(When the sofas first arrived years ago and they "figured out" it was one for each of them you should have seen the way they raced to get their first choice). In the old days I used to diligently spread sheets over the sofas before going to work until I realized they loved running around (and then collapsing) UNDER the sheets.
Friends of mine don't allow their cats on the furniture. What fun is that?

Ha!  Isn't it incredible what we do to not disturb Their Royal Highnesses?  Whenever I'm scrunched into some ungodly pretzel position in bed, or have to go to the bathroom, but there's a cat on my lap, I try to remember how quick they are to disturb me with a back-claw-launch if there's something they're interested in.

I have had Cleo since Nov 04 and no she never did this before, but she came from my moms house. The last new addition was at the end of March so I do not think it is that, but since then all has been ok, she is sleeping in my chair right now, she is not even letting me sit, I am typing standing up ;-))
