I called the emergency place and the urine sample results came back with a
protein value of 300. The level is supposed to be only trace amounts, not even
a measurable number. They said it can mean lots of things. I did research
online and thigns most often cited have to do with kidney failure, but her
other
kidney values were fine (knock on wood). I found something that said it can be
from dental disease, which she clearly has.

She is not eating at all which is freaking me out. She is very cuddly and
purry and even plays a little, but does not jump at all and seems a little
weaker than normal. I wrapped a towel around her and got 100 cc of fluids into
her,
and I syringe fed her 18 cc's of baby food. She ate a whole jar on her own
when she returned from the vet eearlier (adrenalyn I think), so she got about
120 calories into her today, I figure, which is about half the normal calories
needed. I would have syringed her more tonight but she was really freaking out
and had to be toweled, and I figured she had been through so much today
already. I will try to get two jars of baby food into her tomorrow, but I
think it
will be hard. I am very worried. She is far from anemic-- her hematocrit was
53, which I had never heard of-- I asked if it was too high. Apparently on
their scale 37-55 is normal. So anemia is not the problem at this point.

I am hoping this all just has to do with her mouth and can be resolved, but I
really am worried. Besides losing my dog Nubi to cancer in November and
Simon to cancer in February, my remaining dog Fern has cancer and my horse
Pepsi's
legs are failing (she turns 29 tomorrow, I think). And we are supposed to
move to another state in less than 2 months. I just feel unable to cope. I
also feel unable to let Ginger out of my site tonight. I think I might sleep on
the floor with her since I can not seem to get her to come up on the bed, maybe
because she feels she can't jump.

**Has anyone had a cat with dental disease completely stop eating and do the
lip licking thing when you try to give food???***

Thanks,
Michelle
