Hi Everyone,
Thank you all for your good thoughts and wishes for my "kids"; it means so much to me to know that such a special group is thinking good things for them.
After a flurry of back-and-forth activity with my vet and the oncology group in Massachusetts, I had an appointment yesterday for Mandy and Wink.
I put a crate pad with sides in my x-large carrier and covered it with a faux mink throw and loaded my girls in.
Traffic was intense as always, but they soon calmed down and went to sleep together. I liked the oncologist who I saw (Dr. Bulakowski; did you ever see him, Michelle? I think he is rather new) and the news is mixed. There is no treatment possible for Mandy. Wink may not be a candidate for surgery; if she is (the practice is closed until next Tuesday as they all attend a veterinary oncology conference in California) there is a possibility she will need radiation afterward; I would have to board her there for nearly 3 weeks because it's a 2-3 hour trip one way and there is no way I could get the time off from work. I don't know how I feel about that, but then I am still just trying to process everything.
They cuddled up together and slept all the way home. I am treasuring our time together, particularly with Mandy because I she is deteriorating. They are both still so happy, though. Can't wait for bed.
Big hugs to everyone.
Love, Julie
