Gary and Karen,
I'm so sorry about your losing the little ones.  I wish I had the answers.  Parasites, Giardia and Coccidia do take a lot of little lives.  MC just lost several kittens one at a time.  I don't think she knows what claimed their lives.  Sally too, just lost a litter one at a time.  One minute healthy, the next suffering, and then gone.  She suspects her litter had FIP.  It's so heartbreaking losing these tiny ones before the have a chance to get a foothold on life.  Please let us know if you come up with any answers.

Interferon A is available from most pharmacies.  It does require a prescription, but I can't imagine a vet turning you down to call it in.  It's not very expensive and I've never heard of any problems with giving it to kittens.  The vet should know for sure.

I have a few questions that may or may not actually be related to FeLV.  I am associated with a local humane society and we are have a rash of kittens just dying on us.  They all seem to be about the same, they are 3 to 8 weeks old and have symptons that appear like a URI with runny eyes and noses, loss of appitite and listless.  Those not eating are being syringe fed.  We have tried various meds and they just don't seem to respond and then their gums get very pale and shortly they die.  We had a rash like this earlier this year and had several necropsies done with nothing found.

I know a number of you have a lot of experience taking care of very sick little guys and I would greatly appreciate any advice on what we can do to help these little ones.

Is interferon A available without an RX?  Either way, where is the least expensive place to get it?  Can it be given to very young kittens?

Thanks, Gary
