Gary,
When you have had the necropsies done, have they sent tissue samples
out??
When I lost my first distemper kitten, I had a necropsy done, but since the
$$$'s were a wee bit too high, I declined to send out tissue samples.
Then I lost a second one........
However, when the 3rd distemper baby, SDweet Ellen, passed, I decided I
NEEDED to know what was causing these deaths, since I still had 2 sick
kittens.
So, I bit the bullet, paid to have tissue samples sent to U. of Pa., and
got results w/in a week.
Sadly, it was distemper/panleuk.
Also, the surviving girls had coccidia, giardia, URI's, runny eyes.... a
real mess.
Working w/ both my allopathic & holistic vet we treated them
using:
Nemex -de- wormer
Droncit - de-wormer
Revolution - Fleas, ear mites
Albon - coccidia
Flagyl - diarrhea
Zithromax - URI
Triple AB opth. ointment w/out steroids -for eyes
Homeopathic/Holistic:
Slippery Elm Syrup - diarrhea
Psyllium - Fiber
Arsenicum Album - diarrhea
Colostrum w/ Olive leaf - tonic/cleanser
Enzymes - to replace good flora lost
Probiotics/Acidophilus
Bioplasma - to strengthen immune system, helps fight anemia
Rescue Remedy- calming essence
I also use Anitra Frazier's "Vita Mineral Mix"
We started them on a "Raw food Diet", Lamb & Brown rice, making rice w.
extra liquid because the brown rice liquid is a natural supplement for
diarrhea.
When not feeding Raw, I use Innova's EVO dry - an excellent replacement for
a raw food diet.
Other things we have used:
Red Clover - blood purifier
Pau D'Arco - has antibiotic qualities
Echinacea/Goldenseal - Blood Purifier,anti-infection,antiseptic/natural
antibiotic ** Caution: Goldenseal may cause diarrhea
Vit. C
Vit. E - (1X week)
Licorice Root - Sub. cause it's a natural cortisone :CAUTION: May cause
diarrhea
Anyway, all the treatments were supervised by vet, and given at diff.
intervals. We had weekly check-ups w/ both vets,
Happily, both girls are out of the danger zone & I continue with many
of the above holistic/homeopathic supplements.
The girls have doubled their weght, and are now healthy enough to be spayed
& put up for adoption!!
I wish you luck with finding out what is going on with your babies.
Please keep us updated.
Fondly,
Patti
