Will the new bloodwork show if he is generating new red cells?  If his kidney values are good, then he should be making the Erythropoietin (this is the hormone normally produced by the kidneys of humans, cats and dogs, and what the epogen assists them to do when they have anemia that is non regenerative).  I just read that Cornell was doing a study to test a feline erythropoietin.

<<<  excerpt from Cornell's website: The lives of cats suffering from nonregenerative anemia might be improved with the beginning of clinical trials of recombinant feline erythropoietin (rfEPO) developed by Cornell veterinary researchers.  [http://www.news.cornell.edu/Chronicle/01/7.12.01/feline_epo.html], this is from 2001 and I have never heard of it so maybe it never went anywhere???  >>>

Anyway if his kidney's are OK, maybe he will start producing the erythropoietin himself, you may want to consider a transfusion if he does seem to be getting worse because I think it takes about 3 weeks for the erythropoietin to mature in the bone marrow and be sent out into the body.  Other things you can give him to help with building the blood are folic acid, pet tinic, and vitamin B complex.  Prayers that Tabbs is on the road to recovery!!

The only ingredients listed on my lysine bottle is lysine, so can't help there.  Here is a page with different types of Lysine listed, maybe you can get something from that:
