Dear Kerry, I have not heard about an azotemia med – but I am sure that you get better responses from CRF support group.

As kelly mentioned, he really needs to be on fluid probably every day for now, as his BUN and creat are pretty high – also if his liver values are elevated, fluid will help some toxins out – I would really watch out his PCV level and phos going forward and make sure that he does not have any heart murmur – BUN and creat are high, but my Hannibal’s numbers had been higher, please provide some vitamin B complex to him as lots of V-B are washed out via urine with CRF kitties – and also just to watch out to make sure that he does not get any stomach ulcers.. and also lots of CRF kitties are prone to UTI/bladder infections as well.. so if it happens, you just have to give antiboitiocs .. and actually Hannibal had it, a shot of baytrix cleared it right up..

Please warm the fluid before giving to me, lots of CRF kitties get tendency to be cold – PCV 31 is normal (but low end of ).. so I would suggest that you give him pet tinic so that he can maintain the level of PCV level as it’s very very important.. my Hannibal died of anemia at the end and it’s very common for CRF kitties.

I will be praying for your baby--- many many CRF kitties do live for a long time with proper treatment – again fluid therapy is the MOST important of all ---

Hugs,

Hideyo

Hi Hideyo,
Thanks for the info..I did join the CRF group, but haven't posted there only go read when I can..
I need to go back and look for some things.
Inky's values are as follows...(some of them)
PCV  31.9  normal
BUN  95   high
Creatinine 5.8  high
Phosphorus was in the normal range about midway...I don't have it in front of me but it was ok..back in Aug. when all this started it was actually low..
Almost everything else was normal except liver values somewhat elevated..
He at this time doesn't need phosphorus binders..We have discussed it though just in case..They were looking at an azotemia med, but it can't be compounded down..It is some new med that will help keep the BUN and Creatinine lower...they called compounding pharmacy today and it couldn't be done...Have you heard anything about a drug like this? Or something similiar...??
Right now, we are going to watch him and I guess I have to make sure he drinks enough and doesn't have nausea..He is on transdermal pepcid daily.  Any other things that I should watch for, please let me know...
Thanks for the info..
Hope all your kitties are doing well today..
Kerry, Bandy and Inky
