Cassandra,
I would consider how traumatic it is for Kisa to ride in the car. Some cats are okay, some (like a few of mine), freak out. Would it be worse to go to the vet's? Would the trip cause more harm? Could you get the vet to visit you? I too wonder about cats and pain and what should be considered too much pain. How do you decide if a cat is better off being PTS than enduring the pain? Either way, you have a rough road ahead-but you are such a wonderful person to endure the pain with Kisa. I've been searching the web for info on respiratory distress, but can't seem to find what i'm looking for. Kisa's breathing is very rapid and deep, and she has her mouth slightly open most of the time. I can't decide if I should take her in to be put to sleep. I am just wondering if anyone has experience with this, and how long will an animal last in this sort of condition? I am sure she isn't feeling very well at all, but I don't know if she is in pain, or just some discomfort. If this is going to go on for days, I should probably put her to sleep. How will an animal die if the respiratory distress keeps getting worse? Will it be a painful ending, or just a cessation of breathing eventually? Thanks for any input. Cassandra
