Hi Lauren and Jynx,
There's usually somone around to help, so please ask whenever you have
questions. I have two confirmed positives, two probables and who knows how many
more. Long story :( But, can you tell us a bit more? What is the strength of
the doxycycline suspension you're using? I ask because it's such a small
amount, but if you've had it compounded, it's probably formulated just for him.
Usual dose I've used for cats is 10 mg/kg once daily, but your Vet may have
better info about maintaining therapuetic concentration with divided dosing.
Here's one reference,
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/3187973
I'm guessing that Doxy is being used in case there's something other than the
FeLV contributing to the enlarged spleen and anemia, but maybe you can give us
more info, and whether it might be of use to some of us, as well. My boys are
on interferon (human) and DMG consistently and Zenequin and Famciclovir as
needed.
Sorry you have to be here, but glad you found us. Maybe we can help.
All the best,
Margo

Hey everyone, I didn't realize y'all really used this but I'm glad you do! My
Jynx is newly diagnosed FeLV positive and I've been trying to learn as much as
possible about the disease. Unfortunately, his has already manifested itself
and has a chronic fever, an enlarged spleen, and a little jaundice. He's on
0.5ml Doxy 2x day, 0.5 Prednisone 2x day, VitaDrops, and a lysine supplement.
He's feeling a lot better now but I'm still worried....

Hi Dotty,

Congrats on helping Tiger! It's so nice to hear about happy endings.

To help Shamus, you will need to determine what his constitutional remedy
should be to help re-balance his energy so his body can heal. The good folks
over at Holisticat have much more knowledge about homeopathy than I do
(especially the list-mom, Sandy). The website is http://www.holisticat.com/
and the forum is http://www.holisticat.com/forum/

Sending healing, stay strong thoughts to both you & Shamus.

Hi everyone out there. It's me again - Dotty. With another cat problem. But
first, ........an update on Tiger. I want you all to know that because of your
help and support and advice and financial assistance, Tiger is a success story.
He was vetted last year by me and finally given to my sister in law. He has
overcome his gum issues with the FIV and wheezing problem finally. He has a
wonderful, loving home with my sister in law and niece as an indoor cat. He has
filled out and is very healthy and happy. I owe a part of his success to you -
to the people who were able to contribute to his costly care. And to everyone
in this group - a wonderful group full of supportive people and full of advice,
stories and a wealth of tried and true information. Thank you all. Dotty
Winkler Back to my cat at home - Shamus - 10 + YO male. Stray i took in last
year to save. Had urinary crystals. Cured of that with surgical procedure.
However, contracted Staph and E coli infec from the catheterization and
surgical prc. . Hospitalized at vet with IV fluids and sent home with anti b
however is having a hard time throwing this off. Are there any homeopathic
remedies for this that you all could recommend? What are yourexperiences with
this? Thank you, worried about Shamus - Dotty ________________________________
