Hi Denise, Although I refer to Smokey as a feral and he never had any human care before we started feeding him, in truth I don't think he would have ever rated as a true feral. From the first that we became aware of his being uncared for and roaming the neighborhood hunting birds and going through garbage, etc. for food, he was a really friendly cat who seemed to love everyone. He would run up to people passing on the street and beg to be petted. He never particularly liked being picked up, but would abide it without ever attempting to scratch or bite even when the picker-uppers were neighborhood children who could be kind of rough. We started putting food and water out for him and he would come running, if he was within hearing distance, whenever we called his name. He also would come running if one of us went outside, even if we didn't call for him. What a cat!
