The maintenance and grounds division at USC is willing to work with Carolyn,
my friend who works there on contract and traps there (her hubby is a former
provost of the university, but that doesn't unfortunately seem to help much).
The administrative side that deals with architects, builders, etc., doesn't
care much about the cat situation. Carolyn constantly has to tread warily in
order to get anything done. They've sealed up the grates over building vents
before, even though they knew kitties were under the buildings, and fumigated
(probably killing some of them). Students have torn the sealed-up gratings
open, and have removed or disabled traps and/or let trapped kitties out.
Unfortunately, the students don't know the difference between we who mean
well for the kitties and animal control trappers. Carolyn has trapped and
fixed a couple of hundred kitties in the university area in the past two or
three years, but sadly, although she feeds nightly, she reports that most
disappear afer a year or two - they get run over, and we think also that
individuals continue to complain and animal control gets them in the end. Is
