I vaccinate all of my guys for distemper - using the 4 way vaccine - once every 3 years.  The vaccines last more than one year.  I vaccinate my + and - to help them keep from picking up a minor illness that could do them in.  So far, I haven't had any trouble from it.

I don't vaccinate for rabies with any of my cats - even though it's required by law.  My guys aren't exposed to wild animals and don't bite without darned good reason - and none have ever bitten anyone at the vet's office, so I think the risk of getting in trouble for it is slim.  The ER vet who put Pasu down in October said that if a cat bites, it has to go through rabies quarrantine - even if you have something from the vet saying the cat was vaccinated every day of it's life, and if it bites less than 10 days before it dies, the head has to be removed and sent off for rabies testing - regardless of vaccine status or not.  At least, that's what happens, by law, in Montgomery county, Ohio.  I figure, if they're not exposed to animals that carry it, They don't go out unsupervised, and the end result following a bite is the same regardless, why use the vaccine?

Should I get my felv+ cat vaccinated? If so, why? If not, why? What do you do? Thanks. _________________________________________________________________ Dont worry if your Inbox will max out while you are enjoying the holidays.
