Hi, so far he's had leukeran 3 times and started
him on interferon again this week. (one week on, one week off). Vet also
prescribed prednisolone. the specialist seemed pleased his mouth looked
fine--gums not inflammed--however what worries him and me is the anemia. I could
not find stinging nettles capsules but found the liquid so started him on that
today. He's also on Pet Tinic. I also cook up some chicken livers which he loved
the first few days but now not as much. I gave him 1/4 pepcid a/c this
afternoon. how often can I give that? He seems to like lots of little meals
lately. he absolutely hates all the liquid meds and the little bum won't
eat the pills in those new pill pockets that all my other cats love. (doncha
just love how the vets tell you, oh it's easy to give them meds and then they
call in a tech to scruff and hold down the cat as they pill/med your pet?) I
still haven't found much on the web about 'chronic leukemia" other than it's
rare in cats. I guess it's just tearing me up inside because over the
years, I've lost 2 of my cats and 3 foster kittens to this damn leukemia
and I am just hoping the appetite loss is not the typical sign of downward
spiral that I experienced with the others. He played a little with his sibling
this evening and still wants to interact with me so trying to take those as good
signs and breathing deep and enjoying the days we have together. Thanks for
listening.
