The lab results for his bone marrow aspir. came back---the specialist said he has a rare disease---"chronic leukemia" which is more treatable than "acute leukemia" and "lymphoma"  In addition to the interferon and the 2 other antibiotics he was put on by the regular vet, the spec. also wants him on prednisone.  the vet feels this is "infinitely more treatable" and that it's a small cell cancer.  chemo starts next week. (Seems even the specialists are not certain which protocol for treating cats with this as they do know what to give dogs with this disease). Meanwhile Jelly Roll seems to be feeling fine and eating well.
Has anyone else ever had their cat diagnosed with "chronic"?
I just wanted to add that typical vets really had a poor prognosis for my leuk kitty, they suggested euthinizing him....but even with a crit of 9 we wanted to try. I took him to a homeopathic vet who gave me diet instructions, DMG, flower essences and cautioned me about giving him antibiotics.....I certianlly would not give him pred...this will shut down his immune system totally and leave him open to so many other infections.....you need to get his body to produce more red blood cells...if its Feline Leuk that is causing the leuk you need him to also fight the virus.  Feed this cat's body for health....boost his ability to produce red blood cells and let his body battle the problem, you have to support his body for it to do this...many many things that may be suggested may hinder this process :(

No Im not a flake.....and yes I support western medicine....but with the problem you are posting about I dont think what they are doing will help, I fear it will make the situation worse and ruin the cat's already probably miserable mood causing depression which is not inducive to healing :(  If our kitty had not gotten the lymph nacer he would still be here...he was one of those that did get cancer though and we lost him BUT his crit went from 9 toI believe 32 with just diet support and DMG (and some vits) alone....he was improving and had beaten the animia...the vet that saw him last was in awe that he had done that and wanted to know where to get the DMG for her positive patients.....Errol had a great 3 mths after he crashed where he was happy, eating, putting on weight and sneaking out of the house (to our horror)  he was back to normal, and then crashed again with the lymphoma.....Im glad I handled it the way I did cause I have never seen an animal so very sick...and he did get better for 3 mths....

sorry Im rambling....
