Michelle: thanks for the info!  I hope I won't have to
use it. :(

The adoption fee did include spaying, vacs, and a
chip.  I'm thinking we should verify the chip next
visit!

Nina: I don't think any of the vets will do a spay
while in heat.  I'm hoping she's almost over it - it's
been several days.  The other vets we called for 2nd
opinion said they can examine her this week and
schedule a spay for later if necessary.

She is pacing, yowling, and presenting.  The vet says
it looks and sounds like heat to her - they did the
urine test and bladder x-ray to be sure since she's
prone to disease and also older (6+) and of the age
where urinary problems come into play.  She has been
cleared of those problems.  She also had a full CBC
recently that showed no problems.

Now we just wait to hear back from the rescue group
and see what they are willing to do to help and take
some responsibility.  Ideally, we can get actual
medical records from them instead of just a print-out
that says "spayed female".
