Anne,

I hope I’m not repeating anything someone else has said… just a couple of thoughts--- My cat Tucson I got when as a kitten she had crawled into an ac/heating duct and fell into the wall. Once I got her home, I spent day looking for her & found her wedged behind a dresser. Look on bookshelves—any place high… I have one that will climb onto the refrigerator, open those little cabinet doors above the refrig and hop in… Also, look behind refrig, stove, etc. etc.I agree that loud noise would probably get her to freeze. Any favorite toy she has??? Closets, both the bottom & the shelves. Also, any boxes. Think about anything you may have ‘closed’ in the last day—doors, dressers, cabinets, suitcases, etc. etc. I also have one that loves to climb into the laundry bag with her toys—I’ve sent more than one toy to the laundry! I know how frustrating it can be. I used to try & eyeball all of them once before I left for work… You don’t know how many times I found all but one who invariably would be someplace new just staring at me!

As for your friend in Belgium- There is a great web site for diabetic pets that I know has a lot of info on pancreatitis as it is often an issue with diabetics…. As I remember reading, however, when an animal develops pancreatitis they try to give the pancreas a ‘rest’ by not feeding for a few days or so—feed on iv only… Again, the web site has more details….

www.petdiabetes.org

Maybe she can get some help there….

Good luck with Sophie….

Subject: a couple of OT questions to throw out to you, please?

Hi everyone,
First, I can't find Sophie.  It has been 24 hours since I have seen her.  She ditched that catfinder device the first day so I can't "beep" her.  She had been losing her appetite for a few days and even acted like her food dish scared her, or something, recoiling in horror.  She is a good hider and I have an old farmhouse so there are lots of nooks and crannies but I have always been able to find her before.  She must have found a really good spot.  Have any of you had a similar experience?  Do you know how I could get her to come out?  I was thinking of taking my air compressor down there and turning it on because that makes my cats scatter but it might scare her even more and send her into deeper hiding.  Any tricks that have worked for you?

Also, my friend in Belgium has a young male cat, Spock, who was very ill, ended up at the vet and had abdominal exploratory surgery done which gave a diagnosis of pancreatitis.  She doesn't have a lot of trust in her vet and he is the only one around and she asked me to ask you guys if anyone had experience with pancreatitis in cats?  She would mostly like to know what would be recommended to feed her cat when he got home and also what kind of diet would be good to keep pancreatitis from returning.

Thanks in advance for any ideas or input,
Anne and Jimi Too Cool, Simms and Sophie among other furry friends in MI
