Gee, I hope you find Sophie soon---I know how you feel. I had a call when I was in the UK once from the friend looking after my cats to say she couldn't find one of them. And I've 'lost' them myself on a few occasions. They've always shown up eventually.

The vaccuum worked for me when I got really worried, but I can see why you may not want to try it. Hope one of the ideas from the group works---good luck!

Hi everyone,
   First, I can't find Sophie.  It has been 24 hours since I have seen her.  She ditched that catfinder device the first day so I can't "beep" her.  She had been losing her appetite for a few days and even acted like her food dish scared her, or something, recoiling in horror.  She is a good hider and I have an old farmhouse so there are lots of nooks and crannies but I have always been able to find her before.  She must have found a really good spot.  Have any of you had a similar experience?  Do you know how I could get her to come out?  I was thinking of taking my air compressor down there and turning it on because that makes my cats scatter but it might scare her even more and send her into deeper hiding.  Any tricks that have worked for you?

    Also, my friend in Belgium has a young male cat, Spock, who was very ill, ended up at the vet and had abdominal exploratory surgery done which gave a diagnosis of pancreatitis.  She doesn't have a lot of trust in her vet and he is the only one around and she asked me to ask you guys if anyone had experience with pancreatitis in cats?  She would mostly like to know what would be recommended to feed her cat when he got home and also what kind of diet would be good to keep pancreatitis from returning.
