Michelle, have you pulled his skin up behind his neck, to check for dehydration? If in doubt, give him another 25cc. I used to give small amts 2-3 times a day. I've also tried syringing it gently into the mouth, and on occasion have syringed water into their rectum (if it doesn't come out, it's absorbed.

Notice if you need to keep him warm, also.

Also, have you tried the liver shake? I don't have the recipe right here with me, but if he's got jaundice, I'd be concerned about his red blood cells as well as his liver. Maybe just some ground up beef liver...? Or some plain chicken baby food without the extra.

My guess - I'm sending out my best wishes.

Simon has a 9 a.m. appointment with the oncologist tomorrow to do an
ultrasound biopsy, see what is going on in his liver, and start treatment (including
chemo if it is lymphoma). I have been syringe feeding him in the meantime.
Yesterday I got 2 1/2 jars of chicken baby food into him, which is 250 calories.
I had mixed in some milk thistle, dandelion, and vitamin e. He was not crazy
about it but did not fight too much, went outside some, and ate his pills in
pill pockets willingly. He is on two kinds of antibiotics in case it is
hepatitis and something called Denosyl which is an herbal liver support pill from the
vet. I was told to give him 100 cc sub q fluids just at night, but this
morning I gave him another 25 because he seemed dehydrated.

Today his jaundice is much yellower, he would not eat the pill pockets, and
he just threw up all the baby food I fed him. His urine is also very yellow. He
is still walking around some and can jump. he went outside to get away from
me (they have cat fence-in around their yard). I fed him out there and he threw
it up and is now just sitting out there.

I am trying to figure out whether to bring him to the emergency room to see
if there is something that should be done before tomorrow, like IV fluids or
something. I hate to do it if unnecessary because of the stress to him. He
probably needs chemo or prednisone (pred helps both lymphoma and chronic
cholangiohepatitis) but I can't give him that until we see what this is because it can
make chemo not work if given before starting chemo. I gave him pepcid this
morning with his antibiotics.

Do you think I should take him in, or just let him be here until tomorrow
morning when he goes to the oncologist? Do you think there is anything an
emergency room vet would be able to do for him? Do you think I should give him more
sub q fluids?
